The Idea
YOU the artists of MB will be featured in full 12-month calendars for 2011! Each artist (or pair) will have an illustration featured for a month in the calendar. The calendars will be sold online to the world, and all proceeds will be donated to MB to cover server maintenance and hosting costs.
***I decided to make it a 13-month to accommodate the huge number of artists interested.
Month Assignment
If you really want to trade months, you may ask the person assigned to the month you're interested in, but please make sure that they are okay with it! You can also switch to the other calendar if someone from that group is willing to trade with you, but you should only do this if you're absolutely dead set on doing a certain month (NOT because you want to be in the same calendar as so-and-so. That would defeat the whole purpose of this project). And of course, if you do agree to trade with someone, please let me know.

I purposely mixed up the names so people can't switch with each other just to be in the same calendar as somebody else. Please switch with someone for another month only if you ABSOLUTELY have to.
The Monthly Illustrations
This is probably a given, but please put as much effort as possible into your illustrations! Full colour is preferable, unless your idea calls for monochrome or colour on specific areas only. Background is optional, depending on whether you think it would work with your concept, but it would definitely be nice to have. I like full colour calendars.
If you're not confident with colouring or are only able to do a sketch and would like to have it coloured by someone, please sign up for a collab (below). I strongly prefer not having sketches, unless you can make your sketches look pro. If you do submit a sketch, please make sure to clean it up as much as possible and scan it at an acceptable resolution (300dpi minimum). If I don't think it's clean enough, I may ask you to clean it up further.
Your picture should relate to the month in some way. The most obvious examples would be a holiday-themed picture for December, Valentine's theme for February, beach theme for July (with apologies to our Aussie friends 8D), Halloween theme for October, etc. It's up to you how you interpret the month, but please keep in mind that this calendar is for everyone on MB, of all religions and nationalities.
Any illustrations that are controversial, offensive, or inappropriate will be pulled from the project with no exceptions. Your picture should not require a mature flag if you uploaded it to MB, and it should follow the MB submission policies. Remember that this calendar is for everyone and not just yourself.
Fan art is also not allowed. Since the calendar will be sold, I don't want to have to deal with any possible copyright infringement issues that might result from fan art. Please use original characters only.
File size should be 11.25 x 7.85 inch, or 3375 x 2354 pixels (300 dpi).
Theme
The theme is for people who may have some difficulty coming up with ideas for their month. The theme should be secondary to the actual theme of your month though!
The theme is completely optional. If you've already got an idea for your month, you don't have to use the theme.
The theme: Common everyday scene i.e. In the kitchen, meal time, school day, shopping, sleeping
If you're still having trouble coming up with ideas for your month, leave a comment here and people will surely help you out!
Collaborations
If you don't think you'll have enough time to finish a picture on your own and would instead like to collab, leave your name and what role you would prefer in the collab (lines or colours). You'll be randomly assigned to a partner, and then the two of you will be assigned to a month as a pair. Of course, you're welcome to find someone to collab with on your own. Just don't forget to let me know who your partner is!
Backups
I know that it's a busy time for many people, so it's understandable if you suddenly find you're unable to finish. If this happens, please let me know as soon as possible. I'd much rather that you tell me right away than sit quietly until the deadline rolls around without hearing anything from you.
In case somebody can't finish their part, there are two options:
1. Another artist can impromptu-collab and finish the picture if it's already started.
2. Another artist can volunteer to provide a backup image for that month.
We will need volunteers for both options, so if you're interested and can dedicate yourself to finishing a backup picture at the last minute under strict time constraints, please let me know!
When You Finish
Please send me your picture as soon as you're done! Don't wait until the deadline if you're done ahead of time because you may forget.
Send me an email (udun_hanel AT hotmail DOT com) with the subject "MB Calendar: [month]" and attach the full-sized file.
e.g.
MB Calendar: June
MB Calendar: August
Optionally, you may also include a title for your illustration, that will be added to the calendar page below the image.
Do not submit your picture to MB in full. Small cropped previews, desaturated/B&W, or huge watermarks are fine. We want to keep it a mystery and give some incentive for people to buy the calendar after all. 8D
Once everybody gets their pictures in, I'll gather them all up and send them off to get the calendars made.

Autumn. Trees changing colours. Frost slowly appearing on the ground. People starting to pull out warmer clothes. Midterms (for me lol). Sitting at home close to a fireplace. Warm family dinners. A nice cup of hot cocoa while sitting by the window on a chilly night. Pumpkins, pumpkin pie, jack-o-lanterns. Costumes, candy, candy in a jack-o-lantern.
Endless possibilities! If you need more ideas, I'd be happy to try and think of some.

I dunno, August has very little kick to it. Nothing that when you think of August, you think, "Oh, that's ___!", like with October or December. But every month has its own flower and birthstone so. uvu;; If nothing else, I'll just load it with symbolism and hope it looks alright. Thanks for the link, though. <3

I quite like August, personally because it's the end of summer, and still a relaxing time. It's actually when I get my vacation time, so I guess it's more meaningful that way for me... Either way, I'm sure you'll think of something awesome and make it look wonderful.
