For those wanting to see how far their anime knowledge extends to, Japan now offers testing of people's anime knowledge. Known as the Anime Kentai (or anime competency test), many people (including Japanese voice actress Haruko Momoi) have taken the exam in order to be certified by the Association of Japanese Animation. The test was created in order to help people develop knowledge of the animation industry. Multiple levels of testing are offered.
Though the test in theory may seem easy, Momoi stated the opposite when talking about the Level 3 portion of the exam: "Since there were tricky questions, you need to have wide animation-related knowledge to pass Level 3. I think I barely passed it... There also was a question, for example, about the U.S. Anime Expo or on animation-making tools."
So far, the highest level offered will be Level 2 which will be held in Osaka on Nov. 23. This has proven to be difficult for even some of the members of the association, admits Koji Senda of the Tokyo Anime Center, an information center ran by both animation publishers and association members. But Senda also wants people to have fun with the exam. "Some examinees may be hoping to use the qualification for their job. But we rather hope everybody can have fun by testing how [much of an] otaku they are about animation."
It is well written I just couldn't help but point it out~
Fun!
