I always liked this chapter. It's interesting to get into Roger's head for once. It's also interesting that he draws parallels between Wammy and Matt, the difference being Mello. And once you give the history, with the war and such, and Wammy's anger at the system, I can see how it applies. If only Roger were a little braver, things might've turned out differently...but alas, we'll never know.

Roger has always annoyed me, largely because of his incompetence with Mello. It was good to write this and try to work out why he's such an epic phail.

Roger didn't annoy me until I realized exactly how much he had failed. Actually, in all sincerity, Wammy makes me much angrier than Roger does, since he's the one who started it all. I've always found it interesting how none of the kids ever blamed him and directed all their blame to Roger instead.

The fact that they weren't so angry with Wammy makes me think that there are redeeming features that we don't know about. He was certainly attentive to L.

I still love Mello bursting in with all the gunfire. It's always nice to start a story off with a literal "bang." (smiley)

Roger, you insufferable arsecake! He goes on and on about how traumatised the kids are and how badly the whole thing has worked out and how he wish he could have stopped Wammy - but doesn't realise that HE'S Watari now - He can do whatever he wants, he can use the house as just a regular orphanage... but NOOO, killing yourself, yeah THAT'S the answer and will in no way traumatise them EVEN more! ARGH! He makes me so angry. Bitch-slap him, Mello! He deserves it!

Um. Yeah. It was obviously powerfully written to make me so angry. But I guess that goes without saying at this stage.

I'm like that with Roger too. In DN13, it says that he doesn't like children. His actions with Mello and Near show that he's crap at looking after children, so why didn't he just get a job he liked? *headdeskbang*

Yeah, bitch-slap him Mello. Then call Social Services.

Old people do a lot. The two big danger zones for potential suicides are single males, aged 20-30, who are living alone and the elderly. I think that it's more elderly kill themselves than any others. (smiley)

played a huge role in some of the scenes in this story. Many times, as I wrote myself into a hole, we would role-play possible scenarios until I found one that I liked. Also some scenes had their genesis completely in role-played ideas bounced between us.
As a result, a significant chunk of Mello's actions, reactions and dialogue came from her mind, not mine.

That said, she cannot be solely blamed for Mello in this story. Due to the pressures on Miyamashi's time, she has (at the time of writing) read only to chapter 5 of Poisoned Rationality. Unwilling to give her spoilers, she therefore didn't know of some of the considerations that would have been in Mello's head. Therefore I may have taken her direction, as needful, and altered it. Also there are even more chapters that weren't role-played and therefore are completely mine. It would be fascinating to see if people can spot the joins. :p *wraps my arms around Morgie's neck, then smirks up at her*
