These are so awesome! If I had to choose a couple favorites, it'd be the original version on the left, followed by the pokemon cosplay.
 I don't really know much on the subject of CG'ing myself, but I did have a really good artist show me, in person, how he colors. He adds a layer behind the lineart and fills in the area he wants to color fully, inside and outside the lines. Then he takes a smudge tool and pushes the color inside the lines. He uses a smudge tool instead of an eraser in case he goes too far in, since it's easier to fix mistakes. It looked like a really good way to get the base colors down, and it didn't take him long at all, even though he was working with really stringy hair. Anyway, I hope that helps a bit.
