I've never read One Piece, but I've seen plenty of fanart from it. He looks really good! Awww, lookie at the watermelon sticking out of his mouth.

Good lord, Luffy looks so badass. I looove the angle. And his eyes! 
I was wondering what was slightly different about his face... Took me a while to realize Luffy's eyes are usually pitch black in the manga/anime. xD I freakin' love that shadow over his eyes.

The funny thing is I set this out wanting to draw him all badass and then when I finished it I thought, "hang on, he has a piece of watermelon in his mouth, that's not badass at all!" Hahahaha.

No problem, I think he looks plenty badass even with the watermelon in his mouth! Luffy looks clueless most of the time anyway. xD

The angle is just awesome >U< Luffy's expression is full of win and love that dramatic shadow cast over his eyes as he glances forward intently! The way the light just dances across the thick clouds in the background is dazzling~ great having them blurred and focus really helps keep Luffy as the focus * U *

I took some sketch requests over at my LiveJournal recently. This one is for Marie, who requested Luffy from One Piece + watermelon.
The catch for these requests was that a fruit also had to be requested. I got the idea from Sunshee who was doing a similar request run on her journal.
